Supporting the Operation Peer Support Program of the BVAOctober 9th, 2017 at the Oak Creek Golf Club
Maj. Charles R. Soltes, Jr., (Dr.), 36, of Irvine, California, was the first military optometrist to be killed in action while on active duty in the United States Army. He was serving as a Public Health Commander with the 426th Civil Affairs Battalion in Mosul, Iraq, assisting in the restoration of the medical infratstructure.
The goal of our tournament is to keep the memory of Rob in our hearts and minds. By raising money for a charitable cause we can continue Rob’s desire to serve. Rob’s entire career in optometry was dedicated to providing the best care to his patients. He also was dedicated to serving our country and was forever loyal to his Alma mater, Norwich.
With your help we can come to the aid of all our blinded veterans and students at Norwich in Rob’s honor. Rob’s charitable donations are going to the Blinded Veterans Association to aid veterans assistance programs such as Operation Peer Support (OPS) and further eye trauma research. Our efforts also support the Rob Soltes Memorial Scholarship at Norwich University.
